Dear FIRSTNAME,
This letter serves as a follow up to Mr. Hanrahan’s letter today announcing Marianapolis’ move to online learning from March 31st through, at minimum, April 14th and the impact of that on our boarding program.
As of this letter, boarding students currently on campus for Spring Break are not required to leave campus, nor are we closing campus to boarding students after Spring Break during any period of online classes. We will continue to monitor local, state, and federal recommendations and will update you if our plans need to be adjusted.
Boarding students are permitted to be at home during online classes. We understand that a family may wish to bring their student home now and find it difficult or impossible, given logistical or financial constraints, to have them return to campus later this spring. If you decide to keep your student at home for the remainder of the year, please note we will support them completing their academic program online regardless of where they are in the world while we are in session.
As Mr. Hanrahan shared, we have moved to limit travel onto campus for the foreseeable future.
During Spring Break, if a boarding student needs to access their room on campus, this must be arranged ahead of time. We can support access into residential spaces Monday-Friday 12:00-2:00 p.m. and only with advanced permission. If needed, please contact me to arrange a visit to campus. Individuals with a fever, or other symptoms, should not access campus anytime.
Boarding students are permitted, but not required, to return to campus after break on March 30th for online classes. Please note individuals with a fever, or other symptoms, should not return to campus. We will be conducting screening for boarders returning to campus on March 30th, as well as collecting travel records since their departure from campus. Students with a fever or other symptoms will not be permitted to move into their room and we will contact their family as we determine the next appropriate steps.
As a reminder, anyone returning to campus from a CDC level 3 country will be required to spend 14 days off-campus and be asymptomatic and cleared by our Health Office before being allowed to rejoin the community. Further, each family should carefully review any additional travel restrictions that may be applicable to them when making travel plans for their student.
So that we can support each student and family, I am asking you to share your plans for the remainder of Spring Break and the initial period of online learning (March 31st - April 14th) with me via email by Friday, March 20th. If your student is planning to return for and use the provided airport transportation on March 30th, please confirm this when emailing me your plans. As previously shared, you will know by Monday, April 6th if we are returning to on-campus classes on April 14th.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions anytime.
Best,
David DiCicco
Assistant Head of School and Dean of Students
